Travelling to Greece is easily arranged over the internet. There are several airlines which fly to Athens from all of the major European cities. Most have booking online. The following links will help you gain an idea of prices and routes:- EasyJet.com, BritishAirways.com, Olympic-Airways.com, Virgin-Express.com.

Athens International Airport 'El. Venizelos' is just over 30 minutes from the centre of Athens. There are several ways to travel from the airport to the city centre - by bus, by rail or by taxi - all found close to the Arrivals terminal.

Athens has many hotels with a wide range of facilities and charges. As a guide, below are details of a small number of hotels with links to their websites.

Whilst you are staying in Athens, there are numerous sites to see and places to visit: The Acropolis; Theatre of Dionysos; Plaka (Old Athens); Ancient Agora; Olympic Stadiums old and new; stunning views from Lycavittos; many fascinating museums including the Archaeological Museum. To find out more see the Wikipedia entry for Athens.

For those with more time for exploration there are more than 200 islands easily accessible. Greece has 16,000 kilometres of shoreline, half of which is accounted for by the islands. From the centre of Athens it takes about 30 minutes to reach the port of Piraeus and from there you can take a ferry to almost all of the islands. In the peak season, numerous ferries leave daily to the various islands, the closest islands having several ferries a day. Catching ferries here is almost like catching buses.

The names of some islands are familiar to almost everyone. But some islands keep their secrets well hidden from travellers. As a guide, below are listed a few of the islands together with sample hotel prices.

When you book your procedure with the Group of Independent Doctors we will give you whatever help you might need to arrange your travel and your accommodation. We will be pleased to advise you on ways to get the most out of your time here in Greece.
